OUR ORIGIN

Our origin · KIN

We were promised connection. What we lost was belonging.

KIN began with a question I could not stop asking: Who will be at our table?

A personal beginning

The question beneath the company.

After my divorce, I knew I could build a good life for myself and my son. I could create a home, raise him well, make holidays beautiful, and keep everything moving.

One Christmas morning, I sat sobbing in my car in the garage so my son would not hear me. I loved him beyond reason. I was still profoundly lonely.

The loneliness was not an absence of love. It was the absence of other adult lives woven closely into ours. People who knew the ordinary Tuesdays, belonged at our table, and had chosen to keep showing up.

I did not need more people in my contacts. I wanted people who knew our lives.
You can be capable, loved, and surrounded by people and still ache for somewhere to belong.

The truth KIN began with

Then I started asking the question out loud.

Again and again, people recognized themselves in it. The details were different. The longing was not.

Single parents

Building full, loving homes while carrying too much of the practical and emotional weight alone.

People outside the traditional script

Those who had not chosen marriage, parenthood, or conventional family structures, but had not chosen isolation either.

People already partnered

Those with romance in their lives who still wanted deeper friendship, shared community, and people to grow alongside.

Friends imagining a future

Shared homes, childcare, travel, businesses, aging, and lives built with intention rather than left to chance.

The gap

Technology solved discovery. Except here.

We built tools to help people find dates, jobs, homes, and nearly everything else. But there was no meaningful way to find the people whose lives might actually fit with ours.

Not more followers. Not another feed. People we could trust, make plans with, care for, and eventually count on.

That is the gap KIN was created to fill.

01
Alignment before abundanceFind people whose values, rhythms, responsibilities, and hopes can coexist with yours.
02
Plans before scrollingThe product should move people toward real rooms, real tables, and real time together.
03
Belonging measured offlineSuccess is not attention captured. It is plans made, meetings kept, and the desire to show up again.
04
Difference without distanceShared Ground should make curiosity possible without requiring people to become replicas of one another.

Some family you are born into. Some you find.

KIN is being built to help more people find the second kind, and to give promising connections a real chance to become part of a life.

Find your people. Build your life.
